On any given day, walk through the parking lot at Brown County State Park, and you’ll find two things: bike racks and out-of-state license plates.  People come from throughout the Midwest and beyond for a chance to ride the 20 miles of trails inside the state park.

Bike Magazine calls Brown County State Park trails among the best in the country.  Mike Hufhand, president of the Indiana Mountain Biking Association, agrees.

“People are just brown away when they come to Indiana,” Hufhand said, noting that the Brown County and Versailles state parks in southern Indiana that once were known as havens for hikers now attract countless bikers as well.  But indiana’s two-wheeled offerings aren’t limited to the backwoods.  The state also has developed a number of events, programs and courses that let cyclists take advantage of the state’s picturesque highways and byways.

This evolution has been good for cyclists, but good for the state, as well. As more and more Indiana residents and visitors pack their bikes when traveling, cycling in Indiana gets bigger and bigger.
